Women's Lacrosse Falls to Oneonta, 16-10
Buffalo State had its five-game win streaked snapped today as the Bengals were defeated by a score of 16-10 to Oneonta today at Coyer Field. With the loss Buffalo State falls to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the SUNYAC, Oneonta improves to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC.
Buffalo State jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from juniors Annie Tallchief (Perrsburg/Lakeshore) and Nikole Flannery (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) but the Red Dragons would rally to score five straight goals to gain the lead. Leslie Perreault (Johnson City/Maine Endwell) and Leah Bernal (East Aurora/Iroquois) scored two Buffalo State goals as the two teams traded goals until the score rested at 7-4 with four minutes left in the first half. Perreault put the ball in the back of the net twice more to move the Bengals within one goal at the start of the second half.
The Red Dragons came out of the break and outscored the Bengals 7-2 over the next 20 minutes to seal the victory for Oneonta. Perrault and Bernal each finished with three goals, while sophomore Chelsey Frail (Hilton/East Rochester) finished with four points coming on one goal and three assists. Tallchief finished the day with two goals and six groundballs. Megan Powers (Pearl River/Pearl River) and Perrault each tallied an assist in the game.
Buffalo State will be back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to SUNYAC rival Brockport for a 4:00 p.m. game.
