Women's Lacrosse Overpowers Ithaca, 16-8
BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (4-0) continued its winning ways, rolling to a 16-8 victory over visiting Ithaca (5-1) in a non-conference game today at Coyer Field.
Shantel Ackley (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) led all Bengals’ with four goals and one assist. Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/Henninger) had three goals and two assists, while Stephanie Georgopolous (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) and Katie Henderson (Lakeview/Frontier) each chipped in three goals and one assist apiece. Katie Lyons (Williamsville/Williamsville North) added two goals and Erin Silky (Liverpool/Liverpool) registered one goal and one assist.
Buffalo State scored first, but fell behind 3-1 early in the first period before regaining the lead to take a 7-3 advantage into halftime. The Bengals never looked back, exploding for a nine-goal second stanza. Ithaca finished with a slim 27-26 advantage in shots and recorded 16 draw controls.
Buffalo State will next travel to Maryland for its spring trip and play its first of three games on Saturday against Villa Julie at 12 noon.
