Women's lacrosse player Shantel Askley (Baldwinsville/CW Baker) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore elementary education major led the Bengals to a 12-11 season opening victory at RIT, scoring four goals and adding an assist.

Ackley and the Bengals will travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. on Saturday for games against Bowdoin, Tufts and Babson.
