Women's Lacrosse Topples Elmira, 12-9

Buffalo State overcame a 7-2 deficit to win its home opener against Elmira today at Coyer Field by a score of 12-9. The win marks the first time in program history that the Bengals have started the season with a 2-0 record.

Buffalo State scored six straight goals after being down 7-2 to claim their first lead of the game at the 12:11 mark of the second half. The Soaring Eagles answered with two goals over the next five minutes to reclaim a 9-8 lead. Sophomore Chelsey Fail (Hilton/East Rochester) scored the game tying goal less than a minute later and freshman mid-fielder Meagan Powers (Pearl River/Pearl River) netted the game-winner with 9:30 remaining in the scoreboard.

Frail led Buffalo State with four goals and an assist as the Bengals scored seven goals in the second half to complete the comeback. Annie Tallchief (Perrsburg/Lakeshore) added three goals and an assist to her career totals. Leah Bernal (E. Aurora/Iroquois) and Leslie Perreault (Johnson City/Maine Endwell) each scored two goals in the win.

Buffalo State will be back in action on Saturday, for a 1:00 p.m. home game against Medaille College.
