Women's soccer player Gina Monaco (Niagara Falls) was named the first Buffalo State Athlete of the Week for the 2002-03 season.

Monaco led the Bengals in her first collegiate game, scoring a pair of goals in a 2-0 victory in the season opener against Hilbert. She will look for a repeat performance in her second game at St. John Fisher on Wednesday evening under the lights.
