Women's Swimmer Sara Weinert
Women's swimmer Sara Weinert (South Byron/Byron-Bergen) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week.
The freshman won a pair of individual events and anchored the first-place 400 free relay team in Saturday's dual meet victory over Brockport. Weinert's win in the 1000 free came in record setting fashion, as she broke the Buffalo State standard with a time of 11:15.30. She also touched first in the 500 free, clocking 5:35.52.
Weinert will help lead the Bengals into the SUNYAC Championships at the Flickinger Aquatic Center on the campus of Erie Community College in downtown Buffalo on February 9-12.
