Buffalo State took the opening game from Medaille, but the Mavericks stormed back and outlasted the Bengals, 3-2, tonight at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.

The Bengals won the first game 30-22, but Medaille rebounded to take the next two games 30-25 and 30-23. Buffalo State held the Mavericks off in the fourth game, 30-28, but Medaille won the final game 15-9.

Kate Carpenter (Trumansburg/Trumansburg) led the Mavericks offense with 14 kills, while Kim Braunscheidel (Buffalo/Kenmore West) anchored the defense with 28 digs.

Sam Damstetter (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) led the Bengals with 15 kills and 17 digs. Jen Breier (Grand Island/Grand Island) added 17 kills and 10 digs, and Lisa Fioretti (Derby/Lakeshore) recorded 14 kills and 14 digs.

Buffalo State fell to 1-4, while Medaille improved to 5-1.
