The Youngest Entrepreneurs in Buffalo: KidBiz Market, June 18

Young Western New Yorkers are setting up shop with the help of Buffalo State's Small Business Development Center. The first KidBiz Market of the season is Saturday, June 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway.

KidBiz Market is a small-scale entrepreneurial and educational program for third- through sixth-graders. The program allows students to have their own table at the bustling Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market to sell anything they want—toys, clothes, books, crafts, or homemade food and drinks.

“We have this great opportunity to work with students at a young age," said Andrea Lizak, associate director and business adviser of the Small Business Development Center. "This creates a solid foundation for them to know if entrepreneurship is something they’re interested in.”

Students participating in KidBiz must have attended an orientation session to prepare them on how to serve customers, how to set up their table, and how much to charge for their products.

KidBiz Market will take place on Saturdays, June 18, July 9, and August 6. For more information about KidBiz, contact the Small Business Development Center at (716) 878-4030.
