'You're In Bengals Country' Benefits Shoppers, Athletics Fans

The Elmwood Village Association is teaming up with Buffalo State Athletics to create a big win for retailers, residents, shoppers and fans of college sports.

"You’re In Bengals Country" is a new marketing campaign designed to drive traffic to participating retailers in the Elmwood Village, while providing free tickets to see the Bengals in action.

Customers making purchases at any Elmwood retailer displaying the window decal will receive a ticket voucher, each good for two free admissions to any Buffalo State hockey, basketball, and football games during the 2014–2015 seasons.

"Buffalo State and its students are such integral part of the Elmwood community. We’re excited about this opportunity to promote Buffalo State Athletics, while rewarding shoppers for purchases at Elmwood businesses at the same time," said Elmwood Village Association Executive Director Carly Battin.

Buffalo State Athletics Director Jerry Boyes anticipated more collaboration and promotions between the two organizations.

"We’re absolutely delighted to be collaborating with the Elmwood Village Association," said Jerry Boyes. "This is win-win for the retailers, surrounding neighborhood, Buffalo State Athletics and, in a broader sense, the college."

In addition to the You’re In Bengals Country campaign, the two organizations are planning the first ever Elmwood Village Night at the Bengals’ quadruple header on Friday, February 6. Fans will have a unique opportunity to watch four games under one roof at the Sports Arena when women’s hockey takes on Elmira at 4:00 p.m., followed by men’s hockey against Plattsburg at 7:00 p.m. Meanwhile, men’s and women’s basketball take on Cortland at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively.

"We're hoping our neighbors take advantage of the quadruple header on February 6 to come enjoy all great action of Division III athletics," said Boyes. "It's a wonderful night out for the entire family."
